Search for America’s Newest Comedy Writer

Posted: 10/21/2011

EVERYONE HAS A FAMILY. AND EVERY FAMILY'S DIFFERENT. BUT ONE THING WE CAN ALL AGREE ON:

Family’s a funny thing.

The ANA Alliance for Family Entertainment, a group of some of the country’s largest national advertisers, is looking for the freshest take on what’s real—and really funny—about today’s American family. We helped bring Gilmore Girls, Everybody Hates Chris, Friday Night Lights and 20 other shows you love to TV, and we’ve awarded more than 50 scholarships to young screenwriters at leading universities across the country.

Now we’re looking for the next great story featuring the modern American family. Share your original, half-hour comedy format script with us for an opportunity to win $5,000, PLUS receive creative guidance and direct input from John Wells!

An American film and television producer, writer and director, Wells is best known for his role as executive producer of the television series ER, Third Watch, The West Wing, Shameless and Southland. His company, John Wells Productions, is based at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California. Who knows? With a little guidance, your script might even be ready for the big pitch. This could be the break you’ve been dreaming about!

But hurry, the deadline for script submission is October 28th at 11:59 am ET.
